Here, Kitty

Hillsdale, Massachusetts, is a small town ripe with secrets. But it’s hard for anyone to keep them after encountering 16-year-old Kitty Kittrick. As subtle as a thunderstorm, Kitty catches everyone’s attention with her bright-colored tracksuits, fearless questions, and disarming honesty. Lacking the usual teenage insecurities or any regard for social boundaries, Kitty manages to gather Hillsdale’s most troubled citizens and pull them from the hot mess they call lives…..

But this story isn’t just about Kitty. It’s about the people she affects. Her family, friends, and neighbors lie to themselves about what they truly want out of life. The catch? Kitty’s number one rule in life is never to lie, especially to the
people you love, or about anything, ever, at all. But even Kitty gets tested when a menacing stranger shows up in a rundown Toyota Corolla with a misshapen dragon tattoo and pisses off the Starbucks barista.

Here, Kitty is a heartfelt, hilarious story about growing up, taking risks, confronting the past, and learning when to own your mistakes. And not to go to Costco when high. Duh.

“In The Salt is a novel that seeps into your skin and your bones like a cold New England day. Vivid in detail, imagery and emotion, Maggie’s journey from anger to acceptance is one that anyone with an unconventional family can relate to. Is there any other kind?”

“In the Salt is an intelligently written, funny, and entertaining literary journey about three generations of strong-willed women who discover themselves and their history – which is rife with dark secrets and familial complexity. This was our choice for book club, and our discussion was lively, real, raw and passionate. We all loved it.”

“Couldn’t put this book down. It ranks up there with the Goonies and the Sandlot. It shows the vulnerability & honesty of being a kid. And when you have Faith, anything is possible. We need to believe that today!! Especially all the kids who have had a hard uncertain time this past year. Things work out and the possibilities are right in front of us. I Love This Story!!”

Listen, as a Mom of two boys the only thing I expect is someone to empty a dishwasher and a “love you too” cause I always say it first. Don’t take me to some stressed out brunch, let me watch Ted Lasso without having to pause a million times. Or ask me if we have any bread, bc you already know the answer. Happy Mom day to the lovely ladies out there who now value sleep, comfortable shoes and dinners with their kids over, well anything. #mothersday #genx #authorlife ...

The struggle is real for Gen X-er's like me. I miss the universal "everything is open at 9 and closed at 5." Because nothing is anymore. NOTHING. Could open at 9:30, 10:22, or maybe 11? Or close 4, 4:30, or 8. Seems we got a little willy-nilly with businesses ever since casual Friday came along in the 90s. Google, you got me...I needed some hangers and new pillows ... #genx #middleage ...

Hi, my name is Hays. I'm a Bravoholic. Sorry, it is like Cheetos for the brain. Granted, some of these people aren't the brightest souls, but it's the kind of trainwreck of humanity I can handle. So did anyone count how many times he said "Dippin' out" during the last episode? Good lord. #bravo #bravoandy #bravoandcocktails #bravobybetches #bravobygays #scandaval #bookstagram #writinglife ...

Pop-up ads annoy me when they think I am not the rock star punk I imagine myself to be. I'm 50, I know, but pleaaa-eease with the Granimals like clothing for adult women. A white shirt with Khaki pants, kill me. As long as I am still listening to The Killers or Mercury Rev or The Chemical Brothers... no, no, no... ...

Long time since a book stayed with me. There is enough realism- especially for Floridians- to spook your thoughts of the future. Very imaginative and detailed, enough to transport and truly believe we might be screwed. #lilybrooksdalton #thelightpirate #thelightpiratebook #bookstagram #writers ...

I love TV. I love Books. I love stories. Period. I am Gen X and will do anything to escape via entertainment. It is one of our shining qualities, and we will not apologize. #genx #genxers #books #sunday ...

Did you know the phrase "pomp and circumstance" was from Shakespeare? Othello, to be exact. Now I totally get why it sounds ridiculous to our everyday vernacular. I mean, would we really be going around saying "inauspicious" without some rooted context? British invasion, indeed. Happy Saturday- the next one will be all pomp and circumstancy. #bookstagram #authorssupportingauthors #writers #writinglife ...

Olive, my once feral cat, now seems to be all judgy McJudge judge about how I do things. Kitty is a strong-willed main character who wreaks havoc just like Olive-but people are all the better for it. So the two of them have something in common. #bookstagram #books #authorlife #keywestflorida #fkspca ...
